Changing Your Motorcycle’s Oil
Just like a car, you need to change your motorcycle oil regularly. However, you should always make sure you are using motorcycle specific oil. Standard engine oil has additives in it that can be harmful to your bike. Depending on your motorcycle engine, you can choose between a basic mineral-based motor oil, semi-synthetic, or full-synthetic oil. Each of these have different recommendations in regards to regular oil changes, ranging from every 2000 miles to every 10000 miles with the full-synthetic oil. Even if you are a casual rider, you should make sure you change your motorcycle oil at least twice a year.
Bike Coolant
If you want to be sure your radiator is functioning properly, maintaining your bike coolant is key. Check and change your bike coolant every one to two years, depending on how often you take your motorcycle out on the road. Always make sure you are using coolant designated for motorcycle use to ensure maximum efficiency.
Transmission Oil
You need to be familiar with the specific transmission oil your bike requires. Some motorcycles won’t need transmission oil at all. Make sure you are familiar with the specific weight you need for your bike. Some motorcycles won’t need transmission oil at all. Fork Oil
In general, your fork oil should be changed every one to two years; but you may need to change your fork oil sooner depending on the stresses you run your bike through. When you have your yearly tune-up, we will make sure your fork oil is ready for the next year, keeping your rides as smooth as possible.
Hydraulic Clutch Fluid
Similar to checking and changing your motorcycle brake fluid, change your hydraulic clutch fluid every one to two years. In fact, in many cases, this will be the same fluid for your bike. Make sure your hydraulic clutch fluid is always a light yellow color. If it is brown, it is time to change this fluid.
